Unveiled as a concept car at Expo 67 in Montreal, Canada, the Alfa Romeo Montreal was never originally intended for production. Its bold reception, however, convinced Alfa Romeo to build a limited series between 1970 and 1977—just 3,925 units in total. Designed by Marcello Gandini at Bertone, the Montreal’s striking proportions, signature headlamp grilles, and NACA-ducted hood made it instantly recognizable, while its race-derived V8 made it a standout among grand tourers of the era.

At the heart of the Montreal is a 2.6-liter DOHC V8, derived from Alfa’s Tipo 33 Stradale race car, paired with SPICA mechanical fuel injection, a dry-sump lubrication system, and a 5-speed ZF manual gearbox. Producing around 200 horsepower, it could sprint from 0–100 km/h in just over 7 seconds—impressive for its time—while delivering the comfort and elegance expected of an Italian GT.
